Me too I put my hand on it and I about burnt my hand!!! On the reviews a person was saying the brooder heat isn't hot enough for chicks, but I don't think they realize how hot the heater setting gets that they put it on.

It’s plenty hot enough! Lol I almost got burnt on brooder even but didn’t seem to burn them. I did have to make it pretty low though like sink it in a bit so they could closer to it. There aren’t enough height adjustments IMO but it worked fine for mine!!
They did when they got older but they didn’t start jumping on it till a few weeks old and even then they weren’t on it very much. And it’s very easy to just wipe off if they do! Mine also liked to roost on it so if you provide them a roost bar when they’re ready to roost they probably won’t poop on it too much haha
I figured your chicks lived fine with it so mine will too. I wasn't expecting it to be so big!
I just ordered some 1/2 inch hardware cloth. 48” by 50 foot roll. It was really cheap!! Only $62.99 and free shipping!! Even Amazon was $69.99 plus a few dollars in taxes so it was like $72 or something. So this is like $10 cheaper than even Amazon! And said it’d get here pretty fast. But I am also going to see what the local stores have and maybe get a smaller roll or see what we have at our house. We may have something that will work for now. And I will be locking them in tonight!!

Yeah exactly!! When they’re real real little I was a little worried it might not be warm enough but they seemed fine!! And they grow so fast it’s soon plenty warm haha I just had it pretty low when they were tiny and they laid under it mostly but then they start exploring.
And yeah it’s huge!! Haha
I have a funny story for you guys...
So I move my basket in the incubator to three different positions each day so that my eggs are turned thoroughly.
I went in there when I went to go check on the chicks and I realized that the basket was crooked. I never put the basket crooked in there.
I opened up the incubator and lifted up the basket...
