➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

No, mine don’t seem interested, but I hadn’t been watching closely. I just believed what the books said... 🤨 hmm... Yeah, doing that has never bit me in the butt. 🙄 I’ll definitely have to take a closer look.
Maybe it's just a learned behavior. They really globbed on to the ducks as little guys (well, they went in with the ducks when they still had some down, but were the same size as said ducks), so maybe they just did what the ducks did. I'll be thrilled if yours are also weirdos that like protein! Keep me posted.

Will do!

Later...when you have your own place I'll buy them for you.

But that might be years from now :hit 😭
Stay focused.
Your goal is to move out of your parents' house.
The last thing you need to do is add another constant expense...more mouths to feed.
You're supposed to be saving your money.

Yeah I know. Realistically/logically I know this but that's no fun. Plus then I start thinking of a bunch of reasons why I can. Like how I’ll have an empty coop. How I probably won’t be moving till next year anyway, etc. but then I think about how much food my current ones go through, how much feed consumption jumped with all the new additions, and that annoys me haha they’re expensive enough. Plus I have to clean the coop way more often now. So that’s swaying me not to too.

But it’s just now I have this breed stuck in my head ever since everyone was talking about it and I really need one but I guess I waited like 8+ years before I ever even got my first chickens and then another 4 before I finally got some breeds I really wanted, so I guess I can wait a little while longer.

About this vegan goose thing... I very much read/heard/knew the same, but mine LOVE dried shrimp and mealies. I was not expecting that, but they follow me around in the afternoon until the handful is tossed out. How about yours? Any experience with this?
Hahaha I love that geese are vegan. They're like me 😁

There are a bunch I want, too, but I’m not getting any or ordering any (except meat birds) until I make room. That means putting those big toms in the freezer, which means I need some warm days, which don’t appear to be forthcoming. If I can’t find what I want when I want it, I’ll just order some eggs on eBay. TBH, that’s likely a better route anyway. That way I can have a better chance of access to well-bred birds.

Snap out of it.

That’s a good idea!! Although I like having sexed birds. I don’t want to deal with this whole cockerel mess all over again.

I do have the room though because I’ll have an entire coop empty but I just know it’s not a good idea.

Snap out of it.

:lau

I know, I know. But at the same time, I don’t see why I can’t do both. Save most of the money but also get more birds... 🤔

Especially since I’ll have an entire coop just sitting empty.

But I actually have other animals I want more than chickens anyway so I’m going to cancel it.

I’m mostly just still dreaming/wishing/trying to figure out how I could make it work hahah

I still need to build a pond for my goldfish anyway but that will cost wayy more than a couple new chickens would so honestly I’m thinking of possibly just selling them. I didn’t think I wanted to cause I’ve had them 3 years and am attached but I don’t want to spend the money on a pond. Maybe I could figure something out though. Idk.
