➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

My girl, Daisy, is going broody again. I give up! :barnie For a breed that is supposed to be non-broody, I got a defective one. LOL! I had to break her like 4 or 5 times last yr. :th I don't want to go through that again. I think I am going to let her hatch out a few chicks and hopefully it will be out of her system for the yr. I just need to figure out where I am going to put her. And steel myself of the intention to give chicks away. :fl I REALLY don't need anymore chickens.

What breed is she?

What breed is she?
She is an Austra White. I got her through Meyer Hatchery.
This is the page to her particular breed. I chose her because I wanted to diversify my basket of egg colors. So I opted for a couple of white egg layers. She is a hybrid and I saw that she was supposed to be non-broody but I guess it's just the luck of the draw.

Can you order some pullet chicks and sneak them under her at night, taking away the eggs? That way you are pretty much guaranteed girls and it should be easy to re-home extras.

Thats a good possibility. I would think that would be faster. At what point should I do that? She is just starting this broody behavior. I’ve never had a chicken hatch out chicks before. I had a duck hen hatch and brood her own clutch but that’s as close as I’ve gotten to hatching. What if it doesn’t break her of needing to be a momma hormones? So many questions I have lol! My hubby is not exactly happy with the idea but I really don’t want to go through the broodiness roller coaster. I am hoping if she gets babies, she will be done for the rest of the year. I know some birds, especially Silkies, are known for being habitually broody but I’m hoping she won’t be. I’m a over thinker and planner. It’s how my brain is wired. Plz bear with me lol! I’m open to suggestions for sure.

I think itll do the opposite
In my experience the more they go broody the more they want to.
