Did you look at their toenails before you called it quits on the babies? The breeder I got my great buck from says if the toenails look normal, there's a (small) chance you can revive a cold kit. Put them in your bra or into a (non sealed) baggie and submerge the baggie in very warm water (without letting the baby get wet) to bring their temperature back up. If they have blood in their toenails they are gone already.Picture of nest yesterday afternoon and pictures of the 3 babies we found this morning
If they eat their kits they should be culled. A good momma will be protective but tolerate the human checking out the kits. They do well in colder temps but bucks go heat sterile when temps get up around/over 85° consistently. They can die of heat exhaustion if the temps get over 90ish, but do better if you give them cool tile, fans, and ice blocks. Some people give them misters too.I've never been down the rabbit hole (pun intended) I've heard everything from if you sneeze anywhere near them, they'll eat the young... and they'll die at 70⁰ from heat stroke.
I agree. Sounds delicious.Oooh, appetizing!

I have had one of these pre-ordered since November. It should be here next month. I also have a solar oven (small meals, but hot) and the small kettle that goes with it for hot water. An unsolicited recommendation to the preppers. I have been using a Berkey filter for about 6 yrs now and highly recommend them. There manual so you have to run them in batches but the water taste great and I have been very happy with it. DW is not so sure but I believe I could filter pool or ditch water and drink it.
