I have to do some more reading. Wife is wanting 10 does and a couple bucks. I told her that's liable to run the entire neighborhood out of freezer space.
Maybe start with 1 buck and 4 does? I usually breed 2 does at a time, so if the litters are hugely uneven in numbers I can foster between the does. Also, if one doe doesn't take the breeding, I at least have one litter to grow out instead of nothing. I have 11 does and 2 bucks right now, and over 30 kits growing out in various age groups. Always plan to have extra cage space...

This sounds way more complicated than go forth and multiply.
