Maybe start with 1 buck and 4 does? I usually breed 2 does at a time, so if the litters are hugely uneven in numbers I can foster between the does. Also, if one doe doesn't take the breeding, I at least have one litter to grow out instead of nothing. I have 11 does and 2 bucks right now, and over 30 kits growing out in various age groups. Always plan to have extra cage space...

While I haven’t gotten “dinged” on them yet specifically, our city ordinance counts rabbits in with total small livestock numbers and my 3rd cage is not weatherproof in same manner is reason I’ve not added additional does yet......but I may want to consider upgrading and tell city to stick it if ever became an issue
