Okay, may I ask what road or highway you were on for these pics? Some geologic details in them makes wanna look at the web map and see if my imagination is correct....

Generally Try not to get that close to other peoples sphincters to see if they are odoriferous or not. Kind of like farting in church, you sit in your own pew.

Some of it looks akin to stuff I have seen here in the Con-US in my travels (both with family & when I driver OTR)

ETA: I believe I recall they are Kiwi's but, can't recall what area of the island. (Shrugs)

It reminds me of NE Oregon or Columbia River gorge......... alas I know I'm half a world off in my comparisons though.

Case in point Mark, there is a absolutely beautiful section of the Smokies I had driven through a bunch (when OTR) and noticed a rock outcropping that had a *new* crack... The next week I had another load near it and so I chose that route returning west and the crack had grown scarily longer.

About 3-4weeks passed before I ended up ruining that Penn route again....
That rock was now laying on the space behind the cement retaining wall and there was brain new chain link section and some replacement cement bareacades in place and a lot of rubble where they had some emergency removal to do. That Stone? Easily longer that 53' and taller than 30' and likely weighed a metric crap-tonne. The scrapes and dents in the ground were not done lightly.....
