⭐ Kiki's Year Long 🌶️

The "heat" is supplied by a pellet stove that I can connect to the generator. If that fails, I have a sleeping bag rated to -20°F and a down parka. Inside the house, it has never gotten to sub zero temps.
I suggested a pellet stove near a generator-supplied outlet...
Him: "But then we'd have to buy & store pellets and what happens when they run out and you can't get more?" (etc...)

I have thought this thing through and have come to the conclusion that, even if you're a young, super tough-guy, rich s.o.b., if the whole civilized world goes down, you're goin' down, too. And even if you did manage to live out your potential years, you're gonna die in the end anyhow, so...

A reasonable amount of preparedness is a good thing but there's no way anyone can be proof against all possible eventualities. The generator runs the fans on the very effective propane fireplaces. We keep the tank topped off. I am content.

Yes, I saw you were headed this way but it was already past noon. This afternoon is totally different from this AM. I started this morning by pulling sheets of ice from the hen's water bowls.
The buckets I left out last night (b/c of CRS disease) are frozen through. 🤦‍♀️ Do chickens/turkeys/ducks/geese eat snow? 🤣
