Its so much fun! Im pretty rough on my needles though. They look like bananas now . I want to learn shuttle tatting, but haven't made the effort yet.

Besides the internet there are nice instructions books available for tatting.

That is nuts! I would screw it up quickly.

if you learned macrame, tatting is simply tying larkshead knots on a base thread..using a ball of crochet thread or with the shuttle.

@EverythingDucks did you get your needle threaded? It’s easier if you have a threader.

When I taught yarn arts, I had so many students needing help threading their yarn needles, I had the cut little strips of paper that would go thru the eye of their needle. Then fold the slip of paper over the end of their yarn and slip the folded end thru the needle. My Mother in law loved to embroider but was having difficulty seeing well enough to thread her needle. I showed her the trick and she was able to thread her floss thru the needle.

The really elaborate ones can be quite challenging. But there are simple beginner patterns too.

I always wanted to get good at welding. As my father said about his skills (and mine), " I can make two pieces of metal stick together but that's not welding."

Mr muddy is a bit out of practice and his welds don’t come out quite as pretty when he has to use an extension cord for the welder.

Those are some well cared for phalanges, that gel coating looks almost dripping wet fresh too. impressive.

So ladies... how many weeks can you *usually* get a nail job to last? pre-covid and since covid are likely different timelines. true?

I haven't had my nails painted in over 6 years, so I have no idea how long they'll last. I would guess a few weeks though. I'll see if they stay nice today. I'm going to a farm camp type place with baby goats, chickens, ducks, rabbits, and lots of reptiles.
