Besides the internet there are nice instructions books available for tatting.Its so much fun! Im pretty rough on my needles though. They look like bananas now. I want to learn shuttle tatting, but haven't made the effort yet.
if you learned macrame, tatting is simply tying larkshead knots on a base thread..using a ball of crochet thread or with the shuttle.That is nuts! I would screw it up quickly.
When I taught yarn arts, I had so many students needing help threading their yarn needles, I had the cut little strips of paper that would go thru the eye of their needle. Then fold the slip of paper over the end of their yarn and slip the folded end thru the needle. My Mother in law loved to embroider but was having difficulty seeing well enough to thread her needle. I showed her the trick and she was able to thread her floss thru the needle.@EverythingDucks did you get your needle threaded? It’s easier if you have a threader.
Your tamari are beautiful!The really elaborate ones can be quite challenging. But there are simple beginner patterns too.
