It’s not starting......just clicking. Took it to Big O mechanics and they just changed the starter twice but evidently they did not check the battery (which we just realized is 6 years old) and they did not check the flex plate for a bad spot like we asked.Whats it doing or not doing
Mr Muddy just doesn’t have the time nor a lift to do the work on that car himself. The new fuel injectors and diagnostic gauges to continue on the fiero project have been in my living room for a few weeks now while he’s been working on the bathroom and other projects. It’s not starting......just clicking. Took it to Big O mechanics and they just changed the starter twice but evidently they did not check the battery (which we just realized is 6 years old) and they did not check the flex plate for a bad spot like we asked. We are picking up a new battery this evening to rule that out and see if they installed a second dud starter. Then dropping it off at our other mechanic this weekend if needed to check the flex plate and replace the starter correctly if this one was in fact another dud. Our friend had closed down his shop and just reopened in the last couple weeks.
Just a suggestion. Loosen the battery post and clean them. Or just rotate them back and forth a few times. Tighten and try again. It’s not starting......just clicking. I’m going thru this right now. It’s all fun & games when you’ve got 3 crazy pugs running around, but the endgame has been tough. At one point we had rescued & adopted 10 dogs. Over the last 17 months it has been very hard (I've shared in other threads in here) but, the most important thing I did for our fur kids was to always allow them to see, sniff, and watch as I respectfully put them in a gravy and when the rest of them are down being around... Then I start to bury the remains. It's not something that gets easier over time. And when Saydie-Brin (she was the Alpha female of the pack and 12+ y/o when we had to put her to sleep) Bear & Sher-bear, our Great Pyrenees siblings hung around... Layed down and didn't leave the area until I had finished burying her... They even went up to the spot sniffed around d for a good couple minutes and then went out to the back of the big back yard for a while before coming inside.... When ya get dogs & other pets that are in similar ages then they will age-out at nearly the same time.
If its just clicking its not the flex plate unless in some crazy way it's jammed on the starters bendix highly unlikely. Sounds like you have a power delivery issue like battery or solenoidIt’s not starting......just clicking. yeah that was our thinking exactly......but changed to brand new battery today and still clicking ...... they finally got it to start but taking it to other mechanic most likely on FridayIf its just clicking its not the flex plate unless in some crazy way it's jammed on the starters bendix highly unlikely. Usually a bad starter (actually starter motor not solenoid ) the bendix won't spin up and you'll hear it just spinning that whine when u try to start it
A battery with a bad cell or 2 will show a full charge but it won't have the amps to start it. It'll throw you off cause it shows 13.5v but it can't deliver
When it starts take the positive terminal off to see how your alternator is. If it keeps running its good if it dies its bad
What kind of vehicleyeah that was our thinking exactly......but changed to brand new battery today and still clicking ...... they finally got it to start but taking it to other mechanic most likely on Friday
