They've been surprisingly hard to find here. I can find more exotic species no problem, but zebras? Nope.

That’s weird. I’m not a huge fan of the meep meeps. I like Black cheeks. But I only ever want a pair or two.

I'm half tempted to just go for canaries instead. They're quite appealing.

Canaries are weird because you can’t keep them together all the time. And breeding them can be obnoxious. I like the Raza Espanola variety. Smaller and less aggressive.

How are they to pluck? I'd imagine messy, tedious and nit picky.

3 of the 8 today flew the coop. They get top billing tomorrow. I'm not intent enough to chase them down today. I can only begin to tell you how much quieter things are with 11 of the 14 done. Peace.

@Conan naked is the way to do it. Those bikinis just get in the way. Pin feathers galore and these were 2 weeks apart.

@Kiki all but one had developed testicles. The hens got a treat. And the dogs got treats. And I'll get a treat too.

I had a breeding pair of Half Moon Conures with blue mutation genes. Never got Blue offspring. Also had 19 Lovebirds in several color variations and several parakeets.
Moved to the farm in 1997 and expanded the chickens. Tried turkey, guinea, quail and pheasant.

yeah even though my aviaries are more open floor plan, the different species and number of critters of different ages is getting more difficult to manage
