So, I was noticing that this guy's horns were growing. He actually has tines now, but then I saw that one of the horns was broken and dangling down. He kept tossing his head to get it out of his face.My regular visitor.

Had one that completely ripped off one antler. So, I was noticing that this guy's horns were growing. He actually has tines now, but then I saw that one of the horns was broken and dangling down. He kept tossing his head to get it out of his face.
I know that it happens, but this is the first time I'd seen it. I wonder what happened, but I know it could be any number of things. An encounter with a fence, another buck, a dog, or other accident. I assume that the dangling horn will eventually fall off either on its own or he'll rub it against something until it drops.Had one that completely ripped off one antler.

It looks like it was a different young buck. I saw the youngster this morning, and his horns are both intact. They're smaller than the other one I saw as well. Not likely to be caused by another buck. They are both equally at a disadvantage. They wait until after they shed the velvet to work each other over
