Is that what they're called? I grew up calling them H bees because the markings on their backs looks like an H.

They're how I found out I'm allergic to bee venom. My brother would catch them and say, "See? Bees are harmless!" so I saw a bee and caught it. It wasn't a drone fly, and my hand looked like a surgical glove that had been blown up like a balloon.

You can tell they aren't a bee from the antenna on the front of the head. Bees don't have that type of antenna.
