If I wanted to build dog stairs that were about 40 inches long by about 35ish inches tall with
5 steps does this look about right?

I would need 5 pieces that (yellow) that were 8 inches and 5 pieces (red) that are 7 inches.

Plus the long legs for the long black line on the right.

I need the stairs to fit the width of the twin bed along the end of the bed as seen in this picture.

This stairs are ghetto and we have it rigged with containers underneath so the baby can get up on this bed.

I want the new wood stairs to only be about 8 inches wide.

He will not use the damn stairs right now because they are facing the wrong way.
We are trying to see just how long he will refuse to use them.

I believe your figures are correct, I get the same dimensions. You could paint them to match the Mini's walls with any left over paint, then they would blend into the wall and look like they aren't taking up as much space.
