yeah water damage is nothing to mess around with.....you would probably be better served to do same as we did and go down to bare studs....treat for any mold/rot and start fresh!!! the work sux but totally worth it in the end to last 10+ years vs having to redo everything again in a couple

I never sand drywall. I use a damp sponge to smooth it out. No dust to deal with.

mr muddy is too messy with the application to be able to do that it only took me about 10 minutes with the shopvac to clean up the sanding dust

You won't believe how well it works until you try it. The key is to have a good dense sponge.
