It's not just from time to time! It's definitely more difficult for me to retain stuff than it used to be. I'm not subaverage verbally, but it definitely feels like I've gotten more mediocre. Abilities can genuinely change over the course of developmental trajectories. Some get dumber, and some gain ability, all without having much control over it.

My DH said that is a death ring of apples.

No one said you have to make it for him. The first time I made it was with Jonagold apples. They gave it a nice unique flavor.

We also pressure can them bone in. Some times there's pieces of bone that are hard, but mostly softens them up enough to just eat them.

In my opinion the only way to eat sucker is pickled. The vinegar softens the bones to the point they are edible.
