I don't think that I've ever used the word "portmanteau."Portmanteau, lol. I almost chose the wrong word there, because my memory is failing.
Carp... forgetting words from time to time doesn't mean that you're getting dumber or that your memory is failing. I've lost count of how many times I've mistakenly used one word in place of another or have spent literal minutes trying to place a word. It happens a lot.
I'm not trying to dismiss your problems, either -- I'm just pointing out that you aren't necessarily getting worse cognitively. Maybe you're stressed. Maybe you're distracted by other things. Maybe you haven't had a reason to use certain words in a long time. The worst thing that you can do for your mental state -- both in the moment and in the future -- is immediately jump to the worst conclusion.
