When I first moved out here, an old man in Mills was arrested for shooting and eating robins.They seem too small to be bothered with unless you're starving but I had heard of people eating them before.
I don't know if anyone is actively feeding them, but there are a lot of apple trees in the area. They come and eat the fallen leaves and fruit. There are leaves on the trees late this year.You can pretty much be assured that someone in the neighborhood is feeding them.
