Amy adjusted the mugs in the rack so that their sides with designs showed. Once satisfied, she then arranged the warm muffins in the clear cake dish. "I'm going to clean up but if you need me, don't hesitate to call," she said with a smile. Even if Artemis didn't call, she could hear everything that went on just fine from the back.
-------
Watching the curtains go up, Jaxson didn't waste a moment in going over. At the door he took a deep breath to calm himself. He had no idea about what kind of reaction he was going to get from a woman he hadn't seen in years. As he opened the door, the bell above rang gently yet clear enough to be heard from the kitchen. The smell of coffee and the warmth of the room were inviting and he entered eagerly.

"I will," Artemis returned with a smile of her own, she was glad to finally be able to do something besides mindlessly sitting inside a cell. As the bell announced a customer, Artemis back was turned towards the door. "I'll be with you in a moment." She called in a cheerful voice. After finishing cleaning the table she spun to greet the customer, nearly tripping over Jaxson not having realized how close the person had been standing. Artemis foze. Jaxson. Her eyes widened, both in fear and shock, at the recognition. She immediately looked down. She didn't want to ruin the chance of not being recognized, if she hadn't been already. Despite the contacts, eyes were the most noticable facial feature, and the easiest way to recognize a person by. She remained silent, unsure what she could say to act natural, after all, disappearing to the kitchen would only raise suspicions.

(Flock master, do you want me to make a character so that we can play together? It might take some time for mr to create character though.)

Jaxson, oblivious to who she was, backed against the wall to allow her room to get out from behind the table. "No need to hurry on my account," he said amiably, though time really was a concern. He had to be back at the apartment in little more than an hour so as to not raise Vanessa's suspicions. He glanced around the shop in search of a familiar face but there was only this employee.

Artemis didn't reply, but eagerly passed him. She went to the kitchen, raising her head only when she knew that she couldn't be seen by Jaxson. "My guard," Artemis whispered urgently when she found Amy, "he's here."

While Artemis was worried for fear of being found, Amy was worried for other reasons. If her suspicions were correct, then the guard Artemis had talked about was him. Why had he not come so many years ago when she needed him to? Why now, right after a prisoner he had guarded was staying on her property? It couldn't be a coincidence, she was sure. "I'm sure it's nothing," Amy said calmly, though she felt far from it. "You stay here and I'll go see what's up, okay?" She grabbed a clean towel on her way merely to have something to keep her hands busy with. She went out with intention of saying, "Hi, how can I help you today?" no matter who it was, but when she saw Jaxson, the words left her.

"No." Artemis replied firmly. She rushed to grab Amy, and pulled her back into the kitchen before she had a chance to speak with Jaxson. "It's my fault he's here." Artemis reasoned. "If he sees you, and realizes that you are hiding me here he will know that your a contender, and then we'll both be killed. I will serve him. And if he sees me, that's a chance I'm willing to take. Your not a part of this, there's no reason that you be killed for my sake." Artemis spoke quietly, yet with a determination that couldn't be denied.

Amy was pulled back before she could say anything, for which she was surprisingly grateful. "Layla, it's fine. These people come in all the time, because believe it or not, lots of people like coffee. Besides, I've got a feeling that this will turn out all right," she argued. She turned to go back out but stopped when she saw Jaxson talking to a couple who had just come in. "You go see how you can help them," she quickly instructed Artemis, " and I'll deal with him."
