Once Brooklyn came inside, Simeon softly put his hand on her shoulder. He said "I'm sorry. But I want you to know something. When the Mira first came, I was a Contender with my sister. She went to investigate a crash site, and they killed her. It was caught on tape, and it wasn't pretty." He paused, struggling to continue. He looked at her, sincerity and sorrow in his eyes, "That's when I became a CMI. I'm sorry."

Brooklyn listened to him with understanding shining in her eyes. "It's alright. We've all been hurt by the war in our own ways, put we can't categorize anyone because of it; not all people are bad, and neither is Mira."

Jaxson pulled a long thin key from his pocket and reached out to take her wrist. "First, let's get that tracker off of you," he said, smiling softly. He unlocked the bracelet-like item that contained a tracker, as well as prevented her from getting through the shield, and dropped it on the floor.

Artemis rubbed her wrist eagerly as it was released from the unkind hold the bracelet had on it the last several days. "Thank you." She whispered as she met his gaze.

Charlie led her into the alley, where the fact that it was so dark protected them from being seen. He tried to look at the people who were shooting, wanting to know what the heck was going on. Of course, it was safe to just assume they were criminals, but you couldn't be too sure.

Trixie followed Charlie, growing big-eyed as the sound of guns and thudding footsteps grew closer. Instinct grabbed the sleeve of Charlie's coat with her hand. Stupid, she thought, and took her hand off of his coat. "Charlie? Are you armed?" she asked, her heart thudding in her chest.
Whatever his answer, she knew that she had a dagger on her. And no matter how much fear tugged at her heart, she knew that she would be ready.

Jaxson nodded. "It's the least I can do. And, the only thing I can do in order for you to get out." He dropped the key beside the fallen band and nudged them away with his foot. Pulling the syringe from his pocket and his gun from his belt, he held the weapon out to her. "As soon as I inject this, you shoot once in that corner," he instructed, pointing above them. "Only once so you have bullets for later. In case of emergency. Once shot, you will have about two minutes and fifteen seconds to get out. Got that so far?" He paused to make sure she understood.

(Frustrating, hate when that happens ;) )
Artemis paid close attention. She felt a small heartache erupt at the thought that he would not come with her. What had she expected??? Tossing away the realizations that she had growing affections for Jaxson, she nodded her head in understanding of his instructions.

(Gar, want to play the bad guys or maybe Hans to make it difficult for Artemis to escape?)

Devine rolled his eyes and shrugged his shoulders. "There's not much that gets by me." He was always able to identify a clone from a human, that was something he paid close intention when he crossed paths with strangers.
"Well, whatever you think I am, you're wrong." Aya lied stubbornly. "People ask me what I am nearly everyday. And they sometimes even have the audacity to see for themselves." She pried off her bracelets and presented her wrist, that had a brand on it concealed with foundation.
"But there is no evidence that I'm a clone, so you can shut your mouth."

Charlie took out a pistol from the inside of his coat.
"Yep. I always am." He stated. "Are you? Because I have a feeling whoever is coming didn't bring a knife to a gun fight." Charlie pointed his gun at the entrance of the alley, though he didn't plan to shoot immediately. The person could be anyone, and killing someone wasn't Charlie's instinct.
