Vanessa kind of slammed her office door behind her, startling Jaxson who had been deep in thought in his designated chair. As she went to her desk to fetch something, he watched her closely, looking for a sign of how her spontaneous meeting went.
"Head?" She said suddenly, with the assumption that he would know what she meant.
Jaxson's hand went to the still red spot. She had assumed right. "Uh, painful?" He chuckled awkwardly and waited for her to say something besides inquiring about his head for the umpteenth time that day.
"Good. Come on, we're going to the apartment," she said, beckoning him to follow as she grabbed her coat and purse from where they had been dropped earlier.
------
There was complete silence between them as they went to her car and drove the short distance to the building they rented from. Before Vanessa got out, she placed a hand gently on her brother's shoulder and, with a soft smile, said, "I'm glad you're okay."
Jaxson gave a small nod as he watched her get out of the vehicle. His face showed his confusion; rarely did he see the soft side to Vanessa.

Mythe was in his office, examining some blood he had sneaked away from one of the many men Han had killed. He knew this one had some health issues before he had died, so this blood sample was interesting.

As he examined the blood, in the back of his mind he thought about how he would soon have to find his sister. Han was unstable, and he didn't want to risk waiting too long to do something. This must've been the first time Mythe was actually worrying about making sure Han was content.

He cursed quietly and rubbed his eyes tiredly. He would rather ignore the existence of his fake sister and just sit in a lab for the rest of his life, not paying attention to the affairs of his relatives. When he had studied for years, he thought he was signing up to be free of any social activity, or leaving his home. Yes, it was the thought of a hermit, but he didn't care. He devoted his life to this, not family.

Mythe would just have to hurry and leave, then get locking his fake sister up for the rest of her life over with.

(I feel like I'm spying on Vanessa and Jason because I read the posts, but don't contribute to them )

Sorry for not replying to Artemis yet. Let me get in a post or two more for V & J)

After Vanessa had securely locked the door behind them and deposited her stuff on the couch, she turned to Jaxson to demand a detailed report of what had happened in the now empty Cell 13. "What happened back there this afternoon??" She demanded. "I know that it wasn't as simple as a skinny teen knocking you unconscious. You had a very high level of sedative in your system, not to mention that the mark on your face is barely deep enough to leave a light bruise. There's more, and you know because you were in on it," she insisted vehemently.

Jaxson, not surprised with the outburst, went to the kitchen for a glass of water to purposefully leave Vanessa hanging. When he had found a glass suitable to his needs, which really shouldn't have taken as long as he made it, he returned to the living room and took a seat in the corner. Vanessa glared at him as he slowly and deliberately took a swallow of the cool liquid before looking up to answer her. "Well, Sherlock, it looks like you don't need me to elaborate for you," he said calmly, which he knew would just irk her more.

Vanessa threw up her hands in irritation and stepped threateningly closer. She lowered her voice to avoid raising suspicion from neighbors. "Jaxson Pole, you tell me what went on between you and that prisoner this instant or so help me," she said in a quiet firmness.

Jaxson studied her eyes for a moment, noting that beneath the threatening look was genuine concern. Vanessa was a worrier, and had been for as long as he could remember, but this was different. She was scared, he realized in that instant. Scared for their lives in a way he had never seen her be. "I helped her escape," he said quietly. He had known the consequences when he relayed his plan to Artemis, but now, they seemed suddenly much more real and near as he admitted what he had done aloud.
