(I was at school all day yesterday, and it took an hour and a half to actually drive back home. I'm tired, and my creativeness is currently gone. So you shall have to wait longer than usual for a long post.)

Charlie smiled slightly at her statement.
"I'm an archaeologist, actually." He corrected politely. He allowed her to hold the book, nodding when she asked if she could, even though she did the action before asking.

Trixie flipped open the pages of the book, drinking in the beautiful, untarnished photos of the world Before. Trixie didn't originate from China, had never been there except on a business trip with her parents when she was small. Back when they cared, back when they still found caring for a child magical, instead of burdensome. Back when they talked to her instead of shunning her, back when they were all in that small house before she ran away, back when they loved her.
It had been a long time since Trixie had felt loved.
Tears welled in her eyes now, despite her hatred of crying - despite the fact that she was crying in front of a stranger, for pete's sake! Trixie turned her face away, and gave him back the book. What an idiot. Who would start crying because they looked at some pictures of China?
But it wasn't just that. It never was 'just that.'
Never.

(Just teasing. Take as long as you need :hugs)

Charlie noticed her tear up, and her face getting all red. He took the book and immediately felt concerned, because he could only think of himself to blame for her being upset. And his question of whether she was actually crying or not was answered when she turned her head away from him.
"I'm sorry but...Are you okay? It looks like you're crying." Charlie said gently, not caring to attempt to make eye contact with her. He knew that for many people crying was extremely embarrassing, and something no one wanted to admit, so going out of his way to look at her he thought to be inconsiderate.

Trixie took a breath, and turned to face him. At the mercy of his generous gaze, she swallowed nervously, feeling open. Exposed. "I'm fine," she said, biting her lip at the lie. Trixie looked at the ground. "I'm not crying." At this more evident lie, she turned away completely again. "I'm sorry..."

"I...Don't really understand why you're apologizing. I'd just like to know what's made you so upset, because it's unfortunately more than obvious you are crying." Charlie told her in a kind tone of voice. Though he was actually very perplexed and rather uncomfortable, not really familiar with people randomly crying when they see a book.
