Simeon got up and weakly walked towards the back of the enormous room. He choked out "Brooklyn. We need to go."

Brooklyn immediately got up and in the darkness managed to find a rope of some sort. Taking the roping she tied the man's hand and feet, and then strained to move the body from the doorway. "There," Brooklyn breathed heavily, not mentioning the pain that erupted at her actions, "That should give us a headstart."

Simeon nodded thankfully. He said "I'll get the car. We need to get out of here." He left her near the back exit, and drove the car to the back of the store. His vision was clouded due to his lack of blood, and his face was still bloody, which had drawn much attention from the people in front of the store. He opened the passenger door and headed inside to get Brooklyn, who had been waiting for about three minutes.

Brooklyn waited in silence until Simeon came for her. Once safely inside the car she asked: "Let me drive, there's no reason for us both to get in an accident that could be avoided." She said reasonably, unsure how well he could see with his head injury.

Artemis couldn't help glare at Amy, she didn't know anything about her to scold her in that way. "I don't have much respect for a man who's only conviction for saving a dying women is to drain her of any information of his enemy." Artemis lied, she may have only known Jaxson for a week, but the reason for her anger against him went much farther back.
(jealous, much? XD )

Amy was silent for a moment as she processed that answer. "Jaxson wouldn't risk everything simply for that," she said, her voice nearly a whisper. She turned on her heel and headed for the door, locked it and flipped the sign, then returned. "I'm not sure where you're coming from because I think you've got more to tell, but I'm going to tell you where I'm coming from in all this. I told you earlier that it's a long story, but it's one that needs telling," Amy said decidedly. She wasn't sure why, but she felt compelled to explain what had happened to this girl.

She wasn't going to be angry with him, she told herself. It was partially—okay, mainly—her fault that everything had turned out this way, but she felt some secrets couldn't be divulged, even to the most trustworthy.

Vanessa filled two tall glasses with tea and sat down at the kitchen table to wait. The sound of the key rattling in the lock soon greeted her ears, followed by Jaxson entering. The sight of her caused him to take on a look of worry, and rightfully so.
"I—" Jaxson prepared to explain with a lie where he had gone, but Vanessa interrupted him.
"I know. Take a seat," she said calmly. When he was seated, helmet and keys still in hand, she continued. "I know where you went, and honestly, I'm surprised you didn't go sooner." She slid a glass towards him then crossed one leg over the other and perched her folded hands on them, a position Jaxson took to mean a serious conversation was about to commence. "We need to talk. We needed to talk years ago, but I continued putting it off thinking it for the best, but I can see it didn't do anyone any good."

Simeon's pride urged him to say no, but his head injury would prove to be to hard. He asked weakly "Are you sure?" His head was stained with blood.

(I am not!)
Artemis realized Amy's outlook on the whole situation was not the same as her own. She dried the dishes and set them neatly on the counter while waiting Amy's return knowing the conversation had not yet ended. When she did return, Artemis found a chair to seat herself so that it would be clear Amy had her full attention.

"Yes," Brooklyn stated stubbornly, "I'm sure."
Simeon nodded, and sat back, waiting for her to start the car. He was ashamed of the predicament he had placed her in, the pain he had caused her. He realized she was probably better off without him. But he admitted to himself that he liked her, that he wanted to hold on. But if he truly cared for her, he would leave her be with the Contenders, and begin a life of roaming, away from the C.M.I. He didn't understand why the aliens had to come, kill his sister. He didn't understand how some people could side with them. He felt like he didn't understand anything, that he was in a state of oblivion while the cruel world devised their evil plots.

Brooklyn exchanged seats with him, and drove the car without complaint of her own pain. Not breaking her gaze of the road she told Simeon: "You need to press something against your wound, to stop the bleeding."
