A long time ago, back in July, then again, In Sept.
What happened?Back on July 5th while I was feeding/watering my birds, I tripped and fell with all my weight on my right hip, my hands were full, so couldn't catch myself from hitting the way I did...After laying there for awhile, I got up and walked back to the house. I suspected it was broke but since I could still walk on it, it must not be too bad. Went to an urgent care facility to get it x-rayed but the tech wasn't in, so went back home. Went in again the next day, the x-ray tech didn't/couldn't tell if it was broken or not so went to the nonemergency room of the hospital. They did a C scan and it was broken. The ER docs wanted to do surgery on me immediately but I told them that wasn't possible because I would have to make arrangements for someone to take care of my animals. They all thought I was "nuts". Anyway, I left there and went back home. Made an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon and had surgery a week and a half after the initial diagnosis of fractured femur. What happened?
Jeepers, that must have “smarted” just a tadBack on July 5th while I was feeding/watering my birds, I tripped and fell with all my weight on my right hip, my hands were full, so couldn't catch myself from hitting the way I did...After laying there for awhile, I got up and walked back to the house. Then in Sept, the 25th, I was going into the orthopedic's office to get released to go back to work. As I was leaving to go, and just walking along normally, the femur "snapped" again...it broke at the site of the repair from the 1st surgery. The femur was weakened by the screws that were used to hold the ball of the femur to the neck of the femur. He used 3 screws, each as big as a pencil. And that's were it broke the second time.

The first break, only when I hit the ground. The second time it sounded like a pistol shot and immediate excruciating pain, that's still hanging around every once in a while.Jeepers, that must have “smarted” just a tad![]()
Dislike! The first break, only when I hit the ground. The second time it sounded like a pistol shot and immediate excruciating pain, that's still hanging around every once in a while.
