BYC's 2025 Spooktacular Halloween Hatch-Along

Another chick hatched today at 8 while I was away. I actually have a video footage of it hatching that I just need to import to my phone once I get home. She looks the exact same as Scarecrow (will probably change the name as it's a bit too long for my liking) except it doesn't have feathered legs.

Scarecrow the Brahma x in front dried up and fluffy, and Peach (11) is in the background

peach the ee x am. I think her mom might be Peppa my white Easter egger. That would explain why she looks the same as a light Brahma cross.

Scarecrow has been switched to cupcake, lol. 18 the other Brahma egg, whose pipping, is called muffin, and I want them to 'match' while having a light color themed (?) name.

I just realized, Peppa the white Easter egger is my pfp. That was her as a little chick.

They're precious!

This is when I have trouble with the 'wait until they all hatch' rule. The first chick hatched at roughly 9pm and is crying like crazy for some cuddles :barnie
Unlikely to cause any issues by quickly opening and closing the incubator to pull a chick out, unless the humidity in the room you have the incubator in is really low (maybe).

The humidity in the incubator started to dip again, so I decided to put the feeder and waterer in the incubator (the small ones that came with the incubator). I'm hoping the waterer being in there stabilizes the humidity so I don't have to keep rewetting the sponge every few hours.

I'm trying to break bad habits. I know they're fine, I just want to snuggle them for my own good, not theirs, lol.

Haha, fair enough.

Chicks HATE my inc once they've hatched for some reason, so I always pull them straight away and let them fluff up in a cloth by my neck until they have a couple of hatch mates to snuggle under the heat plate with. Not recommending that(!) but it does work for me.

My incubator has the feeder and waterer set too. Be very very careful. I noticed the poop in the incubator, along with the food, goes very moldy if you leave it in for more than 2-3 days. Just don't brood the chicks in there after they're dry is what I'm saying.
