I think Trims are American hairless terrier? Or rat terrier?
Yes they are, both. An American Hairless Terrier is a bald Rat Terrier. I think it was in the 60s a breeder had a Rat show up with a genetic "oops" and was able to stabilize it. There's a coated AHT which confuses me a bit. Sounds like a Rat Terrier to me, but it can still throw bald babies.

That history at the bottom was interesting although wait a second.... they’re related to Feists too!? It says the rat terrier was originally called the feist and then later was brought here and bred with other breeds and created the actual feist? So it seems all 3 of these breeds are basically the same breed!? Although the Feists were bred with smooth fox terriers and some other breeds so maybe somewhat different now but still. There is also a much larger rat terrier called the Decker I believe. So that’s like 4 breeds :lau  :th the Decker isn’t really a breed though just a line of larger ones and strong hunting instincts but still. Also speaking of lines, wouldn’t these breed have been highly inbred? Since they came from the same few dogs and even bred siblings together at first??

Seriously. Can you imagine how my poor wife feels every time she comes home? I mean, y'all only get about 10% of what she gets.

You're a lucky man, Trim.

What in the world is a hairless dog good for, well other than the obvious? Talk about weird feeling while petting it. Haha. Kind like when I pet my nekked neck’s neck.

Umm, :duc

Different strokes for different folks. :idunno

I'm sure there was some line breeding to establish the breed. There's a are least a few lines, both of our dogs are separate lines.

Hmm, interesting! Thanks! That’s good. :) and I’m sorry if my reply seemed rude or anything at all. Genuinely did not mean it as an insult or anything but was curious. Since from the description it seemed like they accidentally got one hairless one then kept breeding her and her offspring. Like it said they bred her daughter then 3 of her offspring To each other. But maybe they incorporated other dogs but didn’t mention it.

Hell I'm not their breeder, nothing to be offended by. Inbreeding, line bedding, back crossing are all popular and sometimes necessary breeding techniques. Take mom to son, then dad to daughter. Later in use uncle's, get an established set of genes, introduce new blood, do more breeding. Some back cossing, do the hokie pokie, turn yourself about. That's what it's all about.
Them boom, you've got bald rats runnin around. ;)

:lau pretty much! Good description!

I think line breeding is pretty common nowadays and I don’t normally have a problem with it or anything, know it’s sometimes necessary like you said, and they use it to improve/solidify certain traits but just seems like to start an entire breed from one dog may create problems down the line haha but maybe they had new blood or other dogs like you said.
