Yes they are, both. An American Hairless Terrier is a bald Rat Terrier. I think it was in the 60s a breeder had a Rat show up with a genetic "oops" and was able to stabilize it. There's a coated AHT which confuses me a bit. Sounds like a Rat Terrier to me, but it can still throw bald babies.
the Decker isn’t really a breed though just a line of larger ones and strong hunting instincts but still. Also speaking of lines, wouldn’t these breed have been highly inbred? Since they came from the same few dogs and even bred siblings together at first??
I'm sure there was some line breeding to establish the breed. There's a are least a few lines, both of our dogs are separate lines.

Since from the description it seemed like they accidentally got one hairless one then kept breeding her and her offspring. Like it said they bred her daughter then 3 of her offspring To each other. But maybe they incorporated other dogs but didn’t mention it.

Later in use uncle's, get an established set of genes, introduce new blood, do more breeding. Some back cossing, do the hokie pokie, turn yourself about. That's what it's all about.Hmm, interesting!
