🚨Don't Be Fooled: Why You Shouldn't Pass Off AI Writing as Your Own

Yeah. When you have a student that can barely put two sentences together properly in class handing in essays that sound like they're written by a college English major, you can usually figure out real quick that the student didn't actually write that themselves
Before AI was an option, some students used sites like this one:
https://flyingmoose.org/tolksarc/homework.htm

That site has a very nicely constructed trap: plausible-looking but wrong summaries and essay topics for the Lord of the Rings. If you are familiar with the story, they are great fun to read. But if you submit one to your teacher, it will be obvious that you never really read the book (or even watched the movie.)

Shut it. My typing class in highschool was on actual typewriters
Me too. My daughter is still stunned by my keyboarding speed!
And I remember the first computer introduced to our school. It was in 3 pieces, they wheeled each piece in to the back of the class, it was like a furnace!
We were given stacks of cards you had to colour in certain dots on. Then in the precise order you fed the cards into the back of the computer and walk around and a few minutes later a piece of paper spooled out with your name on it!
One wrong dot on one one card, or one card out of order and it was a failure.
They told us this was the thing of the future & it would make our lives so much easier... 🤦‍♀️

Kinda looked like this 👆👆👆

What kind of school did you go to that they had a punch card machine? That's some baller level budget. An accounting machine like that one would have been 6 figures even back in the day.
It was a Catholic School in a middle-class suburban neighbourhood.. I remember it being taller and at the time it looked like a clunker 😂. I think it travelled from school to school, because it didn't stay long. It was like punch cards, but with pencil instead of holes. And it took me forever to get the stupid thing to print my name. I remember saying "This is stupid. I could have printed my name a thousand times. How is this going to make our lives easier???" 😂
