Ok, that makes a lot more sense. Iām not a duck person, as I just have chickens, but I know all animals get lonely by themselves. She can probably go outside full time when she has more feathers and is able to stand up to the other ducks a bit. She does look very happy in the photos, but I donāt think a full-time inside life would be good for her. From what Iāve heard, ducks are very messyā¦Hi!
The eggs I was incubating already had homes waiting.
Unfortunately we canāt have anymore ducks.
We currently have 3 females for each of our 2 drakes and a pair of rescued Pekins that we got at about 5 months.
I would get the 3 more in a second, but not knowing the sex could potentially lead to problems.
We donāt want a hide flock and we already have 10, and little Stella was thought to be a Muscovy, and really surprised us!!
Anyway, Stella is doing great and receives tons of love and attention!
My mother, who lives with us absolutely adores her and Stella sits on her wee wee pads snuggling with my mom all day!
Sheās currently 19 days old and has a large puppy playpen as her grow out brooder filled with toys, stuffed animals and mirrors!
But Iām concerned about how sheās going to do when itās time to introduce her to the flock!
Iām going to have to do a ton of research because she has no idea that sheās a duck!
We take her outside to watch the flock, but we donāt allow her to interact with them yet seeing that sheās still much to young.
My daughter wants her to be in āindoor duckā permanently and wear a diaper, and Iām actually considering it, but ducks are VERY messy and Iām OCD about keeping my house clean. Lol!
Iām just taking it day by day right now.
Thank you very much for your reply!
Kindly,
Amy
Taking her out with you to meet the flock is a great idea. And when you want to put her out there full time, you should put her in a separate area at first, if possible, so they all can get used to each other without fighting and possibly getting hurt.
Best of luck to you and little Stella!
