Update on the new duck-house, i have started to close the side-walls:

And placed a bowls with food and water on their porch, so that they get used to it:

They seem to get used to that set-up:

Made some progress on the new Duck-Shack, i have tested the roof-panels:

At the high-raised area (facing south) i am planning to add a sliding window:

It is all very rough though, i don't know how to build the support-structure for the roof panels, these landscaping timbers are not the right choice but i have no long wood in store…

I made a "dry run" with the roof panels today and it looks like i built the roof a tad too wide:

Or it might be that the panels are not laying flat...

Does anybody have an idea how to cover the sharp edges of the tin? I am clumsy enough to cut my throat on these...

You can either use a grinder to dull the edges (or cut them back) or be a true hillbilly and use ducktape (pun intended) to cover them.

So, the roof is up and passed the first test, we had some really heavy rain yesterday and the night before:

I had to set up some "scaffolding" to be able to screw down the second sheet of metal and that edge piece.

Now i need to focus on the doors, windows and weather proofing, i think the weather side will be covered with a large OSB board:

And then several layers of oil paint with a duck image on top.

Made some good progress with the duck-house yesterday, dragged my last OSB sheet out of the garage and attached it as side-wall:

I have some OSB pieces for the remaining openings at the top and one of these openings will become a ventilation opening, covered in hardware cloth.

A sliding window is installed in the south-facing gable:

That window will also be covered with hardware cloth, so that i can stay open without compromising the predator-protection.
