0 degrees Winter Question

I live in Texas rare for it to get that cold here but Sunday night is going to be below 0 degrees should i add a heat lamp inside my coop i have 5 month old bantams and other mix breeds. I already covered my coop with plastic that way wind wont go inside the coop.

If the coop is dry and draft free with proper ventilation, they will be fine. Woke up to -35 yesterday and by 7am it dropped to -37. Mine were just fine. Not overly impressed, but fine. They would love 0 degrees right now. By the end of this crud, we will not have gotten above 0 for 12 days.

Wow that worse than here we aren't use to does types of weather here the weather is crazy last week it was 67 degrees with sunny weather next day it was 20 something

I hear you. On 2/4 it was +37. On 2/5, we dropped into the -20s. It's a shock to the system for sure.

Caution on covering your coop with plastic. Just make sure you have plenty of ventilation

I’m here in north Texas too. I’m worried since our chickens don’t get to ease into it. It’s so unnerving!

Ik i made sure to put a good amount of hay in their coop and also closed their door to the run. Whole corn helps them make body heat so i recommend Whole Corn that all i can do its risky putting a heat lamp in a coop
