I could look at pics of a 21 pound Cornish X all day! Those are great. I'd like to keep one and give it a try. What's the back story on how did you guys did it? Were these from a group of meaties that you just left one unbutchered? What have you fed them?
We always order a batch of broilers in the spring and fall. Well I made the mistake of naming him and the hen and got "attached" to the little thing. Also, they do not run with all that weight, they W A D D L E from side to side !!
its been fun just watching them. As anyone who keeps chickens knows, chicken TV is the best thing to watch in the yard .
you can keep them indefinatly just restrict their feed(i hav let mine free range so they have to work out too) , i also put asprin in their water so it helps them with their circulatory system. not too much and not all the time but once or twice a month ill crush a few up in their water. they dont like the taste very much but they drink it esp since its the only option lol. mine are healthy 4months now but i kept them for a year and a half too and when i finally butchered them i got a dressed bird of 15 lbs. thats a lot of chicken
That's a turkey weight ! Until someone has seen how huge they are close up the pictures do not do these Giants justice ! Thanks for the info on the aspirin too.
i dont doubt the weight of 21 lbs id bet on more. according to the ideal poultry flipbook cornish x rocks will attain a weight of 16 lbs at 6 months. id bet they would get up to 22-23 in a few years. a lady i know keeps them as meat and egg birds and those eggs are gigantic. bigger than a turkey egg so yeah that is turkey weight
ive never had a broiler be aggressiveat all. thats one thing they are bred for complacency. thats why they do so well in crowded chicken houses !!!!!yuck!!!!
