1/2 in vs. 1/4 in Hardware cloth

I've seen people recommend using 1/2 in hardware cloth. We have some leftover 1/4in from a different project - any reason to not use it?

If you have it already, I'd use it. I used all sorts of leftovers at my house to reduce costs, and hardware cloth gets expensive!

Just make sure you attach the edges tightly, or cover them, as it will rip easier than the 1/2" if something gets their teeth or coon fingers under an edge.
