1 - 3 week old chicks runny or solid poo?

What is this? Got a link?[/QUOTE]
Gosh I don’t even remember which website it was on but basically it started at 95 degrees at 1 week and reducing it 5 degrees for each week of age only up to 6 weeks. I removed the heat lamp and I’m monitoring the temps in the brooder and watching them and I’ll go from there. Poop looks better! Yayyyy!

In my experience slightly wet soft looking poop and solid poop are normal. Unless the poop is completely watery, bloody, a strange colour (e.g green or yellow) or has evidence of parasites, it's nothing to worry about.
What are you feeding them?
Cleaning out the brooder today it all looks pretty much solid. And they’re happy so I feel much better! Thank you!

If you have poop photos you would like to share :)

What are you feeding?
It could very well be feed - hopefully it will straighten out over the next few days.

Chickens have 2 types of poop. One is "normal" this is a solid(ish) formed poop that usually has a white "cap" on it. The other one is "cecal" poop - this is a loose pudding type poop, that is stinky, sticky and can be from light brown to almost black.
Color and consistency of these 2 types of poop vary with what they eat and how much they drink. (in hot weather you may see a lot of loose stools due to increase in water consumption)

Feed stores can be different in how chicks are fed and watered, they may have been using a different feed as well.

I think you are o.k. if all are active, eating/drinking. If you notice any lethargy, going off feed - something like that - then be concerned.

I'm not sure what type of antibiotics they have at your feed store? Hopefully you will never need those.

Cute babies! I hope all goes well for you.
Thank you for all the info. I’m loving this and enjoying them so much! I didn’t have a poop photo from before but I changed the bedding today and it all looks pretty good. Yayyy! I did snap this poo pic on the lid cuz Mike, our jersey giant, hopped outta the bin and protested then hopped back in after a few seconds

Oh that's not real accurate...go by behavior.
Removing lamp....well, they may need some heat....but not a full on 250W heat bulb.

I removed the lamp and this is the most calm they’ve been so far! Sleeping away Not sure if it affects them but it seems like the lamp was keeping them awake? They haven’t slept like this since I brought them home! At what outdoor temps and age could we put them outside? Thanks for all your help

How old are they now? I'm in AZ. also. I hatch my own chick's out in incubator's, so I'm always moving each set of chick's to the next step. I currently have 2 set's of chick's in the grow-out pen's outside, and more egg's in my incubator. My brooder is currently empty.

They might have been too hot, why being able to adjust the heat output is important.

Light might keep them awake, but after decades of lamps being used I don't really think it's an issue. Tho many of us have gone to 'no light' heating options as a dark period is good.

How old are they, and do they have a heat source?

One pen has 3 month's old in them now, and the other pen has 4 month old's in them. I am getting ready to turn the 4 month old's loose in there with the adult's, and then move the 3 month old's over to where the 3 month old's currently are at. I brood them in the house and move them outside when they have fully feathered out good. I also keep an eye on what the overnight temp's for the next few night's will be when I do. I'm in the valley part of the desert where there is no snow in the winter.

They’re all between 2 n 3 weeks. Today it’s 70 in their pin and they’re still comfy- yay! Been so cold at night but warming up significantly this week so that’ll help ALL of us watching the temps for our chicks I would think.
