1 acre land

I lean towards Slippys way to a certain extent BUT BUT BUT, there is a time and place for personal opinions on these matters that probably shouldn’t be on this forum. Way too many people view life and relationships so many ways, by talking about this stuff here isn’t going to change someone’s view point. Why upset people? I spend my day normally shutting my mouth about certain subjects due to the high sensitive about everything nowadays, just a safer way to be.

So... back to the chicken side yards side yard... I have to go mow my “bird area” and the riding mower is down :/

That sucks but I bet when you mow the birds love the cut grass

Okay thank you. I'd have to look up how much sq feet that part of the yard is then. I don't want too many. But I do like hatching and raising my own meat too. I also want to put in a quail hutch but not too sure. We got a lot of feral cats that like to pull them through fencing and eat them

The only reason why I have a covered run for mine is due to the fact I have a many hawks. I also live in central Florida we have coyotes and foxes and raccoons.....basically a very active wildlife lol

From personal hawk chicken eating experience... Covered enclosed run is the only way to stop hawks. Lost 4 just this season alone. Electric fencing almost keeps the ground predaturds out completely. Turds they are. Found a breach in my fencing and a opossum was coming in and eating the chicken feed before I shut their door in the evenings.

😅 oh lord.

My lab tends to keep the raccoons and opossum out as she’s barks lot. I haven’t seen one yet.
I have no idea how the family behind me is doing though as he has chickens and ducks.

My yard is fenced in, too.
Our neighbors without a fence and an uncovered run down the street may learn the hard way.
I warned him yesterday but he didn’t seem to open to my recommendation.

He just built his coop and he’s awaiting his chicks.

I'm hoping for another do to replace the one that I had pass away 2 years ago. But I do understand about hawks. I've had a few go after mine. But we have a mutual agreement now. I put out left over meat for them and they leave my chickens alone.

It's the foxes, racoons, and feral cats I have issues with. Every so often a cocky possum
