Hello! Wanted some feedback from everyone on here. I have been reading posts and it seems that everyone has very knowledgeable answers. This is my husband and I's first attempt at raising chickens and it is not going quite as we expected ( both good and bad ). Our chickens are just over 4 months old, and they just started laying 2 weeks ago. Now we are averaging 5 eggs / day. BUT, they are all in one location, with just one red hen laying on them. Now, I know that she obviously is not laying all 5 of them, but is it normal for them to all lay in the same nest spot, or could she be moving them to sit on them? I'm not quiet sure you could define her as "broody" because there are times when we go into the coop and she's not sitting on them. She does however, get upset if she is in there and she sees you take the eggs! Just curious? We have tried to put a trail camera in the coop to catch who is doing the laying, but it didn't work out. If all else fails, we may try that again. Thanks so much in advance!

Yes, it is normal for more than one chicken to use the same nest. Often it seems that the sight of an egg already in a nest attracts another hen to that nest when she needs to lay.
