1 chicken dead, another sick!

I had an egg bound hen just recently. I held a warm rag to her vent for about ten minutes (rewarming it periodically). I then put on a rubber glove, lubricated it (you can use vegetable oil or KY jelly), and went up the vent with my finger. I did a little internal massaging and then some external massaging. With a surprising amount of effort the huge egg (over 100g) finally came out.

Wow! Big egg :)
I'm not sure what to do its like the egg is still deep inside her though its between her leg and her ribs. It sticks out the side and it moved sometimes and it's pretty hard. But for the life of me I can't get it to move past that area! :(

I would try some external massaging and and a warm water soak. I was lucky that the egg that bound my hen was right at the vent.

By the way, if your wondering, this is the hen that is on the far right of my avatar.

Here is a picture of what she looked like when she was bound up.

She looks just like my hen! My hen isn't tucking her head in as much as your but she's all fluffed up and squatted. I've been massaging lots and giving warm baths so I guess it's just a waiting game now at least until it gets closer!

I sure hope you can get that egg out! Sometimes the egg is actually to big for the hen's pelvis, so it has to be imploded with a syringe, but this is an extremely dangerous operation as pieces of shell that are missed can cause infection. I would keep doing what you're doing, and only break the egg as a last resort.

Yeah I think that would be my very last resort also. Except I don't understand how you do that, do you go through her vent hole, or go through her skin?? Because her eggs in a spot where you can't even feel the egg when you put your finger in her. :(

You would never go through the skin. The egg has to be in reach from the vent. You would insert the needle in to the egg and then draw back the contents. If you could bring her to a vet, she could get an injection of calcium that would probably really help. But, of course, vets are expensive and like me you probably want to solve the problem yourself.
