The last of my original flock died today. I had six originally. When No. 5 died, leaving the sixth alone, I went and adopted another chicken from the animal shelter to keep her company. They lived together happily for a year. Now Goldie is alone, and I don't know if I should adopt a new chicken for her or take her to the shelter. I don't know which would be better for her. I didn't raise her, so she would never come to me, and perhaps doesn't have much of an attachment, although she seemed happy enough living here. Do you all think she would rather go to the shelter and get adopted or stay here and get a new coopmate? She is agitated without Pecky and keeps running back and forth every time I go outside, thinking I'm going to bring her back. I had brought Pecky to the vet, but she was too sick and had to be euthanized. I was thinking of giving Goldie away on Craigslist, but some people say that the people who reply will eat her.
