1 day old with eye problem?

I have a 1 day old black silkie and buff orpington mix still in the nest with mama (just giving background info). It has one normal colored dark eye and one that is lighter colored and is cloudy looking. Like a cataract on older people. Anyone have any idea what this is? I can't tell if it sees out of it or not. I tried to test it with my finger moving, but mama gets nervous and intervenes. Other than it looking different the chick acts just like a normal 1 day old chick. Thanks for any help!

Update:
The chick seems to stumble (only slightly, like balance) when going to the left, which is the eye with the problem. I think it is definitely blind in that eye! What could cause this?
