1 hr late for a party last night - advice about an automatic pop door?

I have an auto door on a timer. I wanted something simple and didn't mind spending $80 bucks. It works like a charm and I don't have to worry about somthing eating my girls when I'm out late. I used a AAm80 drapery moter and a counter weight. Simple,Easy, Done. A little pricey but compared to what I have into It already It's cheap.

Heard tell of an old Amish guy who tied a string to the key of a wind up alarm clock and set the alarm each day and wound up the clock. As it alarms, the key unwinds and the poop door lowers to a closed position.

Cool ingenuity!

Thanks, all for more ideas! Also, cfabe - great website! Again with the limit switches - I have learned something new! And on the expense - had a laugh recently with a "chicken friend" on the post about the hen that laid the $3000 egg (first egg after coop, chicks, supplies, feed investment). We decided that chickens are cheaper than psychiatrists, and the head doctors don't even lay eggs!

Hi cfabe - I just ordered all the parts for your screwdriver solution, and I'll look forward to having it in place for fall. Your pics and wiring diagrams are very helpful. Thank you for sharing that.

It's one thing to have to be home by 8:30 pm in the summer, and a different thing entirely to be home by 4:45 pm in the winter!
