you can rehome at any time but if you decide to ship you have to be mindful of the weather and regulations in shipping live birds (although i doubt thats on your mind though lol)

Can you double check or help me find the definitive way to sex these chicks? I understand with this breed it is very difficult. Both the males and females have combs. I have also heard that another way is to look at the black breast feathers.

The male and female both have combs this is what they look like http://www.efowl.com/Black_Breasted_Red_Old_English_Game_Bantam_p/2361.htm

I don't want to give away the hens without being 100 percent sure.

both sexes have combs on every breed. i dont know why anyone would say these are hard to sex, i find they are the easiest to sex. at about/around 2 months old you will see color changes. this link goes to my oegb album. i have 2 but only one is pictured in this album and he is a bbr oegb like yours are https://www.backyardchickens.com/gallery/album/view/id/6207415/user_id/103640

the one on the left is a pullet and the one on the right is a cockerel pullets will not have color in their combs till they get close to laying

Thank you. So the best way to tell is solely through the combs? The tail feathers on a few with mottled breasts (black in there) are wide and rounded. Some of the other tails have obviously longer feathers on the sides of the tail.

If there is any black at all on the breast is that also an indication?

I just want to be 1000 percent sure before we give away a hidden hen.

Thanks. I am going out to take better photos.

-have a pair of OEGB. When they were chicks, I thought the cockerel was a pullet and the pullet was a cockerel. The little cockerel was timid and chirped like a cricket. The pullet was very independent. At about 6-8 weeks, however, the cockerel was very obvious as he developed a very red comb and wattles. I do suspect, according to your current pics, that you have one pullet.

Oh, I am so sorry. She looks so happy with you.

As far as figuring this out, We had a pure white chick hatch, who is now mottled all kinds of weird colors with a pink comb, and a white beak. Some have really black breasts, others are spotted black breasts. The owner of the eggs told us the eggs are Old English Black Breasted Bantams. That's all I know.

This owner also has other birds, different kinds of bantams on his farm.

Still trying to get photos. Will post in a minute. These guys won't stay still
