I just moved my guineas to the coop 2 days ago. They are a month old. I was super worried about them being cold and scared but decided it was time. I ran an extension cord to their coop so I can offer their heat plate at night(low 40*f). They are loving it! Just went to check on them, thought they had all escaped, but then looked up! They are acting like guineas, roosting and chatting. It is awesome to see. They were always so scared with the top approach brooder, and the air in my bathroom was getting dusty/musty. Since I put them in there I have been ringing a bell when I feed them/give them treats. Hopefully this will help with eventually free ranging days and cooping nights. They are already responding positively to training.

Managed to get them all in one picture!

So curious!

They are loving the natural lighting. Clear roof was a last minute choice. Yes!

I'm so glad they're doing well. I plan to confine them in here for a month, then give them a temporary run attached for a couple weeks, then free range. I have been feeding their main meal at night so hopefully they associate sunset at the cop with free dinner. I know a lot of people have questions about when to move outside, roost layout, etc, and although this is my first batch, I figured I would share what has worked for me and my guineas so far. Thanks for reading!

I love your adorable pictures!!! Great creative and upcycled coop! The ventilation around the top is also a great idea for their health. However, I lost several 2 mo old keets to snakes in their coop. Do you have some hardware cloth that you could lay over the chicken wire?

Thank you for the compliments!

Ya know literally as I was putting that chicken wire up I was thinking "this should be HC". I just had the chicken wire laying around(someone saw I had chickens and brought it to me...won't say no, but I wouldn't buy it!") and decided to throw it up there to keep the keets in. I didn't really consider snakes, as the biggest ones around here are black rats. They would most likely take a guinea that size tho, and they are good climbers. I will be reenforcing those spaces with HC. Thanks for the tip!

Snake got one this sized, my only coral blue! After I got relocated the snake and patches the gaps, a black rat snake just like it showed up, looking for gaps...
