Will 1 silkie be Ok with a flock of 12 other LF? I recall reading a post that they might get picked on?

Every spring I get about 5-6 new chicks to replace my old layers. The new chicks do not get introduced to the older chickens until they are starting to lay eggs.

Right now I have a mixed flock of White Leghorn, Buff Orpington, Silver Laced Wyandotte, Isa Brown, Speckled Sussex, Golden laced Wyandotte, EE , Barred Rock, Australorp, Rhode Island Red, Light Brahma.

I'm hoping to get a broody hen so we can hatch a few chicks. It will be a nice learning expierence for my daughter.

Thanks everyone.

I have a small flock of five silkies that free range in the chicken pasture with the large fowl (many are the same breeds as yours). They almost always stick together as a group. I would personally get two or three silkies and let them give each other the companionship that they seem to enjoy. How can you resist silkie chicks? Too cute.
