Everyone knows that you need to remove them 12-24 hours after they hatch, right? And most of us know that they rarely ALL hatch within that 12-24 hour period. So here is your #1 tip for hatching gamebirds (quail, pheasant, chukar, etc):
WHEN YOU OPEN THE INCUBATOR TO REMOVE HATCHLINGS HAVE A CUP OF HOT WATER AVAILABLE TO FILL THE WELLS.
I keep a washcloth in my incubator and pour the water on the cloth. This will bring your humidity back up very fast and (hopefully) eliminate chicks getting stuck in the shell.
