Okay so,
I have 10 chickens as of now, I'll be picking up 2 more this friday, that would be 12 hens and 2 roosters.
I know it's 10 hens per rooster, but is there something else I could do but to slaughter one of the roosters!?
They fight, *A LOT*, we've seperated the 2 with their own hens (Currently 5 hens 1 rooster in each coop).
If we do end up getting 20 chickens, would it even stop them from fighting? What do we do? None of us in the family want to slaughter the roosters because we picked one of them as our main rooster, and the 2nd one was a suprise rooster that we're very attatched to...

Rooster 1: Polish
Rooster 2: Brahma mix (Possibly hedemora cross)

How old are they? If they aren't harming the hens, it sounds to me like they're trying to establish dominance between them
The polish one was hatched in june, the other one was hatched in july
They've not been harming the hens, only eachother. They cannot be with eachother without attacking, they never stop

Since november, seperated them 2 weeks ago because we came home to one of the roosters looking absoloutely torn, he had white stuff leaking out of his eyes and dry blood all over his comb, he was away from the rest of the flock

Probably a pecking order fight, since it matches the season and the time they'd start having more hormones

Weird, I've kept 2-3 roosters to 11 hens without issue, many times. If I did have problems it was rare though.

But not every method of keeping multiple roosters to less hens, or multiple roosters to several hens works out fine.
