By the way, not saying that you will do anything bad, but no fowl play

Please fill in gaps between bottom of wire and ground - too easy for varmints to slip under the fence.
Lots of diggers too, so a wire skirt around the fence perimeter can help deter them. Gosh I hate predators. Please check out predator threads to learn their M.O. and how best to repel them aside from gun fire.

I think the wire does go to the ground just not easy to see on the first picture

Yes it is hard to see. The wire actually goes down and curves in horizontally about 12 inches. That part is burried about 3 inches.

Then last friday a friend posted on facebook "free chickens"! I had thought about buying some chicks this spring, but I didn't have time to build a coop. Well, this past weekend I did. So now I have a coop and 6 half bandy half copper murans (or so I was told!) I'm already thinking about getting more to add a variety of color to my flock and eggs.

Below are pictures of my unfinished coop that I took this past weekend. After spending quite a bit of time lurking here, I have already cut 5 foot wide by 18 inch tall window (which they love!) on the front wall for ventiliation. Any tips/advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Also, if anyone knows where a person can get chickens in southeast Texas that would be great as well!

THANKS!

I am sitting here looking at your chicken run and noticed you have a gap at the bottom and I am thinking that you might want to put a 2X6 down along your border to seal that off to keep predators from digging in under the fence line ..

Isn't it a great hobby, actually its more like a new lifestyle. My friends talk about chickens all the time now too. I have 6 but not sure what they are yet, I should take pictures and post them as I know I will get the answers here anyway.
Welcome and let us know how it is going for you. Love the coop, lots of room.

I have to rely on this site to share chicken stories. I keep trying to recruit people to get at least a few, but they all think I've lost it

I can't help it, they're just too neat!
