1 yo BA hen w/purple comb?

Found this hen in the chic shed going along the wall like she was trying to hide. Thought maybe she was going to lay an egg and maybe had broody thoughts(?) so I picked her up and THEN realized(I have lovely eyesight) that her comb was purple and she was breathing heavy. Put her in" time out" cage and came back appx. 15 min. later and she HAD laid her egg and comb looked almost red again. I would like to think she normally does this when laying her egg(kind of a late in day egg too) but something else MUST have been going on. Any thoughts? thanks!

Wow i had one with a purple comb and she died,i am happy for u!

I've heard that lice can discolor their combs.

Well-its a couple of days later and, like I said, her comb got normal coloring again and all seems well so...dmccann what do you mean you're happy for me?(assume joking?) or hopefully you meant happy because her color came back! anyhoo-got up this a.m. and found another BA hen severely limping so SHES in the time out cage. More things happen when you have tons more chickens together. And lice is not an issue now(altho they're present I am working on ELIMINATING the suckers!).
