I like to think that I'm preparing them to be better wild ducks.

By the end of the day, all the duckweed will be gone.

One of the funniest things these guys do is beat up on the pullets. I especially love seeing the ducks bite their butts. I'll try to get that on video one of these days!

They are tiny with attitude!

HAWK ATTACK: Had the babies out. Ducks preferred the penthouse perch. I went to move a wheelbarrow and spooked the ducks. One flew out and was in the yard. She looked lost, so I tried to scoot her closer to the pen. She took off and flew around the other side of the pen heading towards the open space (woodland). As soon as she went around the back of the pen, I heard her screaming. Next thing I see is her flying back into the yard with a huge hawk chasing her. She smacked into my garden fence and the hawk flew off. I scooted her back into the pen. She seems okay. A little shaken. I'll be keeping an eye on her.

Boy they sure don't give up do they? I am happy to hear she is okay and survived.

All the pullets are in the coop, quiet as church mice.

It's terrifying especially since I'm in the yard.
