I recently acquired some chicks from a family friend. Somehow, he doesn't know their exact age, but from what I can tell they must be 1-2 weeks old.
One came with a very swollen looking and protruding, possibly prolapsed vent. It was pasty and a bit scabby, but I fixed that with a moist cotton swab. Soon afterward, it had a loose poo and is still eating and drinking, but hasn't been as active as when I first received it. I also applied honey, and later Prep. H which did help for a bit, but no longer has any effect on the chick. Is there anything else I can do at this point?
The other chick has a moderate cross beak. I've read about filing it down, but I'm wondering if there's any way I can fix it for the long term.
From what I can tell, these chicks were not under very good care and I'm very worried about their health. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks
