Hi, everyone, we just started our flock in April and are really enjoying being chicken parents. 😁 We got 13 pullets that were supposed to be 12 hens and a roo but we've since realized we have 2, possibly 3, roos. We'd love some help identifying breeds! The seller just keeps all their chickens in a free range area and didn't know breeds. I managed to get pics of our flock. There are also a LOT of feathers in and around the coop and run. Is it normal for them to be losing so many? Thanks, in advance!

Spaz is a light Brahma. My favorite breed. I started out with three and have hatched off several pure and several mixed. I really need to get some pictures on here. I’ve ended up with some real beauties.

Would love to see some pics! I confess, she is my favorite. She let's me handle her easily and will take treats from my hand already. She's a good girl.

Light Brahmas are some of the most gentle chickens I’ve ever had. My big roo has the most terrible crow in the world. He’s funny to watch. I can see the dinosaur in them more than most others. He’s always been second roo and rarely challenges the top roo. He always assists in pushing a young roo off a hen.

They look like all crossbreds to me. Some "kinda" resemble some purebreds but don't fit exactly. You do have 3 boys pictured. Looks like mostly Brahma mixes and Leghorn mixes. Possibly some Easter Egger in a few of them.

When someone keeps all their chickens together and doesn't separate by breed, you get mixed breeds.

I agree on the likely breeds contributing to the mix.

I see what looks like a leghorn possibly, Amberlink and maybe a California White?

All the same breeds I currently have so unless what I was told I was getting at the time I got them is wrong (which is very possible) then it looks you may have a some if those.

Oddly enough’Spaz’ and ‘Brownie’ are two of the same names two of my hens have lol

I agree. My bunch is truly a big mixing pot. I do have some pure breed, but I hatched off a variety of chicks from some eggs donated to me by someone. I even ended up with a half Show Girl silkie half Frizzle pullet. I stick her eggs under any broody I have in hopes to hatch a couple...lol
